5 Self-Care Activities For a Lovely Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is “the day of love” for a lot of us. It has a beautiful message: show your loved ones you love them. Dedicate special time for it, to remember how powerful and exciting love is.

But here’s something I want you to never forget: your “day of love” can be about you, you and a friend, or about whatever you want it to be.

Whether you have someone in your life who you're looking forward to spoiling this Valentine's Day or you want to spend it with yourself, here are 5 activities that will make it a day to remember.

5 self-care activities to make you feel like the main character in your life

Look inwards with yoga

Whenever I take a trip within myself with the help of yoga practices, I always come out feeling more at peace in my mind and soul.

It’s a good way to ground yourself, be in the present moment, and tune into your body. It doesn’t have to be complicated or straining, but try to do it for half an hour—your body and mind will thank you for it.

Take a breath of fresh air

Even if you’re not outdoorsy, going outside for a quick walk can do wonders.

Of course, don’t do anything you don’t feel like doing, but if you need a sign to get up, put on some comfy shoes, get your headphones, and go to your favourite place, this is it.

Pamper sesh

Ah, yes, this is where the fun begins. This is the time to go all-in with your favourite self-love/self-care activities.

Whether that’s delicious food or exquisite skincare, make your pamper sesh abundant with all the things that make you feel loved and honoured. I mean, the feeling of a soft, glowy, rich skin? Amazing!

This kind of dedicated time for yourself will help you feel more energised and confident. We all need to remind ourselves sometimes that we can be our own best friend. Cherish yourself the way you wish to be cherished.

Light a candle

I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that candles set the right mood for this kind of day. Everything feels serene, don’t you think? It’s like the world slows down and you get a minute to just… be.

If you’re into that, you can choose a scented candle to accompany the soft light. Anything that makes your senses happy will enrich your self-care experience.

Speaking of that, here’s another idea that goes very well with lit candles: dance and sing your heart out to your favourite music.

Enjoy yourself, your body, your abilities, your health, your voice… Celebrate yourself—that’s the ultimate form of self-care.

Don’t allow interruptions

However you choose to spend Valentine’s Day, I hope you’ll allow yourself to dedicate that time to your wellbeing. That often means turning off your phone notifications, not checking emails, and overall just finding ways to be present in the moment.

Create your ideal day and don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of that. You deserve it.

Final thoughts

Valentine’s Day often comes with a lot of pressure for people who aren’t choosing to spend it with a partner.

You won’t find that here—on the contrary, I wholeheartedly encourage you to make this Valentine’s Day your day of self-love and self-care.

Whether that’s luscious skincare, delicious food and a good movie, going out for drinks with your friends or simply hanging out with yourself doing your favourite activities, this Valentine’s Day can be however you want it to be. Own that.
